This is the easiest job on earth. You call my questions silly, but it just proves that you take the easy way out. I bet you gundecked pms too, but how much pms does a radioman have? I don't have to take any duty cause my opposite shipmates are doing gods work. Bluenose, I am not picking a fight, I am just weeding out the weak. J knows once you find a weak spot you expolit it until that guy fails or gets on board. There is no room for mistakes when you are battling a fire or hyd rupture where vis goes to 0 in less than a second. Been in two of those later ones. J seems like the person who would crack. I have an appointment with an elk, so ladies I leave you with this: If you have not read this then you should. http://www.atule.com/Sea%20Stories/dr_joyce_brothers.htm Then ask yourself if you fully understood the dangers you were put in every patrol, deployment, and workup. If you can honestly look yourself in the mirror and say you did, and you still whined and complained about how boring it was/is, then you fully don't understand why this blog title makes me so mad.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8640715116021555600.post-40223729323893704302009-11-25T09:06:09.310-05:002009-11-25T09:06:09.310-05:00BTW - El.Sid, thanks for your service.

Thanks for your comments.
El.Sid -...Anon and Blu,

Thanks for your comments.

El.Sid - thanks for stopping by yet again. I appreciate your loyal devotion to the Naval Service.

Somewhere in the early history of this blog you will find a post about the "sleepy eyed whiners" reference.

It fits into the category of war or military service being about 99% boredom and 1% sheer terror, or something like that.

And, actually, it's a self-deprecating commentary on the men (and soon womyn) who serve on all ships (but, in this case, submarines). Sure, for that 1% of the time that it really counts, our training, work ethic, and sheer Americanism, makes us steely eyed killers, but, the other 99% of the time, we're mostly whiners. And, hey, if a sailor couldn't bitch and complain to vent his frustration, he'd be a future postal service employee.

So, el.sid, I encourage you to grab a sense of humor (I hear they're on sale at Wal-mart this week) and either leave or laugh.

You're wound about a half turn too tight, and if you really do live and breathe the submarine service, please, do it a favor and get a life. The Navy and the Silent Service need well rounded sailors more than they need guys playing Full Metal Jacket around them.

As for my not answering your silly questions - I don't need, nor want your validation. My record speaks for itself, and this blog stands astraddle and aside that.

Again, have a great Navy Day, and I hope your taking duty over the Holiday's for sailors who have families and lives they'd like to lead off the boat.Jayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17870722050000888929noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8640715116021555600.post-90070701196373708272009-11-24T22:02:46.838-05:002009-11-24T22:02:46.838-05:00Although I rarely leave a comment (sorry, Jay), I ...Although I rarely leave a comment (sorry, Jay), I am a regular reader of Jay's blog. Jay is a talented writer, and I don't say that just because I happen to share his political views. He offers insightful and well-written political commentary.

Jay's response to the anti-southerner troll was well written and to-the-point. I don't understand why El Sid feels the need to take issue with that.

I, too, am proud to serve in the Submarine Force. However, I have not found anything on Jay's blog disrespectful to submariners, nor have I had any reason to question Jay's qualifications as a fellow bubblehead.

I'm curious what El Sid's motivation is to pick a fight here. I could understand if El Sid disagreed with Jay's political views and tried to argue the liberal side, but he has only criticized Jay for his method of dealing with the troll and for the title of his blog. I fail to see the rationale behind his personal attacks on Jay's character and professional qualifications. What does El Sid hope to gain from this?blunozhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02917109513028096262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8640715116021555600.post-28557896287094263632009-11-24T19:08:42.147-05:002009-11-24T19:08:42.147-05:00Pretty big words from a dirty blue shirt. I would never take something I loved, bled, and sweat for and disrespect it. Steely eyed killers of the deep. I made chief in 8 years and 7 months by the way. Here's how I did it. Qualed dive on my first boat as 2nd, then duty chief. Then I volunteered to ride a fast boat for a west pac. Went to shore duty and busted out my masters. Now I am a Chief. Work ethic got me here, not man pleasing. The only thing I am disgruntled about is how sbags seems to attract one another. As an LPO and LCPO, my retention is 100% as well as advancement. So if you want to be a Chief, maybe you should 1306 to my division. Navy life is my life and I am proud when a skimmer calls me bubble head or squid. Let's focus on j and see what he has done. We know nothing because he dodges the questions and he will never have my respect because he is disgracing something dear to me. Maybe you should reevaluate your feelings of Pride Running Deep.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8640715116021555600.post-23458996778299265422009-11-24T18:47:37.409-05:002009-11-24T18:47:37.409-05:00So I've been lurking for a month or so. I've met 2 types of Chiefs that make it in less than 10 years. The first is the disgruntled Nuke who soon gets out and reminds me of how good it is on the outside. The second is the D-bag chief (Nuke or Cone) who has done nothing to earn the respect and admiration of his sailors. I guess there is a third type, the type that can make the disgruntled E-5 love the Navy, and love his job, but I haven't met one yet.
I've had really good chiefs, and chiefs like El Sid who make me rethink my devotion to God and Country (The current government does the same thing, but that is a comment on another post). I have very little respect for Trident sailors from having been working next to them the last 4 years. They (most) lack any work ethic and apparently have nothing better to do than sit around while on Off Crew to try to stir up trouble on the internets. I'm guessing El Sid also talks a big game while playing WoW when he cuts out for the day at 10am. El Sid is no "Chief" and comes across more as an E-7... go lead your sailors, and don't worry about some blog or it's author. I don't care if somebody does 4,6 or 30 years, a Submariner is a Submariner if he follows through to the end. We all have stories and opinions, and this blog is a collection of them from one man. From the mouth of a Fast Attack Tough Submariner who knows what it is like to work for a living ,and since we like to talk tough out in the cyber world, shut your man pleaser (I'm assuming that's how you made Chief) and go lead and train the next class of Chiefs.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8640715116021555600.post-37018239484985707822009-11-24T18:47:09.299-05:002009-11-24T18:47:09.299-05:00So I've been lurking for a month or so.
